Sport, Top Stars open FEI World Cup Final
The
nineteenth FEI World Cup Dressage Final opened today
at Duesseldorf's Phillipshalle. Finalists from across
the world competed in stage one of the competition,
the FEI Grand Prix, which decides the starting order
for the Freestyle finale on Sunday.
Holland's Anky van Grunsven, the record-breaking five-time
winner of the World Cup title on her star horse Bonfire,
set down the gauntlet with a win on her up and coming
ten-year-old Gestion Salinero. " I was very happy
with Salinero today" said van Grunsven. "
He was more relaxed in the warm up and he just wants
to do the job. He cruised through the test - he doesn't
want to make mistakes." As van Grunsven spent
most of last year out of the saddle due to a fractured
thigh, she is even more astonished at the progress
of the young Hanoverian. For Sunday's freestyle, she
has perfected her new programme entitled 'L'Esprit
Chanson', which she has already shown to be a winner
during the qualifying season. Please

High
fibre diets can help laminitis management advises SPILLER
Spring
is the highest risk season for laminitis, a very painful
and debilitating condition from which native type horses
and ponies are particularly at risk. The results of worldwide
research into laminitis recommend high fibre diets with
low levels of soluble carbohydrates and fructans and a broad
spectrum of vitamins and minerals. Feeds such as SPILLERS
Happy Hoof meet these requirements perfectly.

The
Sun Rises On HITS-On-The-Hudson
Horse
Shows In The Sun to Premiere World-Class Equestrian Facility
in May
SAUGERTIES,
NY March 30, 2004 From dawn to dusk, crews
are hard at work in Saugerties, New York, making the final
preparations for the grand opening of HITS-on-the-Hudson.
The state-of-the-art horse show facility will premiere in
May, marking the accomplishment of a long-held ambition
for Tom Struzzieri, owner and President of Horse Shows In
The Sun.
A
large concentration of our exhibitors operate out of the
Northeast, and up until now the region has lacked a horse
show facility designed from the ground up with amenities
customized to their needs, said Struzzieri. The HITS-on-the-Hudson
show grounds promises to fill that gap. Situated on the
site of a former 200-acre golf course, the horse show facility
took two years to complete. Struzzieri oversaw the project
from the turning of the first sod, and every aspect of the
facility was designed to his exact specifications. Please

Arabian
Horses Claim $2.9 Million in Sweepstakes Prize Money
In
2003, the Arabian Horse Association (AHA) paid out close
to $2.9 million to eligible horses in the International
Arabian Breeders Sweepstakes program, making it one of the
richest payback programs in the horse industry. Since its
inception in 1984, more than 100,000 horses have been enrolled
in the program, and each year approximately 1,800 owners
receive paybacks. Most of the payback went to Arabian, Half-Arabian
and Anglo-Arabian show horses in disciplines ranging from
dressage, reining and trail to western, hunter and country
English pleasure. Endurance and competitive horses earned
more than $62,000 while owners of Nominated Sires pocketed
more than $105,000, based on the winnings of their offspring.
