BETA Launches New Consumer Safety Course

AN innovative new course has been launched by BETA in order to help give guidance to assistants, instructors, clubs and organsations on all aspects of safety, protection, standards and equipment fitting.

The BETA Consumer Safety Course follows on from one held in Ireland last year which was a great success and will be offered as both full day and evening sessions.

The courses will cover all areas of safety from the medical aspects of what equipment can do to reduce injury to the fitting of hats and body protectors. Advice will also be given on current standards and testing procedures for equipment.

BETA Chief Executive and Secretary Claire Williams said: "We are delighted to be launching this course in the UK which has arisen from a number of requests for assistance and advice on this subject from a wide range of riding organisations.

"There is a growing demand for the course from instructors, Pony Clubs and Riding Clubs and we are looking forward to working with these groups. "

The course aims to provide consumers but particularly professionals with a basic knowledge of safety equipment and an ability to check whether the equipment being used is up to date and fitting correctly to meet the needs of the user.

Added Claire: "Attendees will also receive hands-on tuition in hat and body protector fit checking together with information on human physiology and principles of safety equipment."
