host their second 2004 FEI Eventing World Cup Qualifier

The
third qualifier of the 2004 FEI Eventing World Cup series begins
today Friday 12 March. It will take place at Galway Downs near
Temecula, CA (USA). This is the second out of four qualifiers
organised in the United States, the others being Red Hills, Tallahassee,
FL (12 - 14 March); Rebecca Farm, Kalispell, MT (23 - 25 July)
and Over The Walls, Hardwick, MA (30 July - 1 August).
Twenty-three
riders, representing the USA and Canada, have entered 25 horses
in the FEI Eventing World Cup qualifier. Among them, Gina Miles,
30, on the ten-year old gelding McKinlaigh will be there to defend
her 2003 title. Gina placed third in the first FEI Eventing World
Cup Final in Pau (FRA) last October riding the same horse.
The
competition will be organised according to the following timetable:
Dressage - Friday, 26 March, 12h15
Cross Country - Saturday, 27 March, 13h50
Jumping - Sunday, 28 March.

Apart
from the World Cup Qualifier, the event will also feature a CIC
2*, a CIC 1* as well as a number of national classes involving
no less than 311 entries. Temecula Arts Council Exhibition, free
children's art activities, wine tasting provided by Temecula's
finest wineries are only some of the entertainment activities
offered alongside the sporting excitement.

FEI Eventing World Cup is the sport's first linked series consisting
of 17 qualifiers culminating in a yearly Final. It is organised
at the highest level (three-star) of the short Eventing format
which is the new standard for Championships and the Olympic Games.
The series is designed in manner to encourage the participation
of the world's best riders and horses and thus promote such emblematic
values of Eventing, as the constant quest for harmony between
physical skills and mental balance, contact with nature, precision,
