Final And First Competition TNT Sires Of The
World
Due to the cancellation of Indoor Brabant as a
result of the foot-and-mouth disease crisis, the winner of the TNT Sires of the
World is still not known. But in this case postponement has not led to
cancellation; the final of TNT Sires of the World of the 2000/2001 season will
take place on Saturday afternoon, 22 September, during the World Breeding
Jumping Championship in Lanaken, Belgium. This competition will also be the
first qualifier for the new season.
The gains of the competition are not only of
interest for riders and owners. Zangersheide Studbook is putting up a generous
breeders premium for those breeders responsible for the three most
highly-placed horses.

A Horse, of
Course
with Don Blazer
I've always been an advocate of saddle training horses at a young age. It has
always gotten me into trouble---not with horses, with people.
What I'm about to say will probably generate a lot more criticism.
I like to saddle break (I use the word "break" just to needle those
who are already furious with me) using horses when they are one-year-old.

Mr Ned at Blair.
Probably only a few people know that the horse in
the equiworld.net Logo is a real live horse and belongs to our editor Caroline
Martin. His name is Springdale Steven and this year he was part of our busy
team at the Bowmore Blair Castle International Horse Trials and Country Fair.
While I was showing a group of American visitors round the event, Peter Asprey
who is our technical chap was supervising the live web coverage and Caroline
was keeping the site updated plus finding time to compete in the various show
jumping classes. For all of us it was a funny feeling to be knee deep in the
heather in the Scottish Highlands beside historic Blair Castle yet be connected
to equiworld.net by a high-speed ISDN line! Steven on the other hand was happy in
his temporary loose box munching hay and enjoying the company of a hundred
other horses.

Something About Saddles
Have you ever had a problem with your saddle
blanket crawling out from under your saddle? It probably slid out the back,
right?
Saddle makers solved this problem long ago. But it
may resurface in modern times due to the shortcuts taken in the
misunderstanding that the woolskin is only a pad. Some who think this way also
think it is all right to replace the wool with a synthetic fleece.
