2003 Arabian Sport Horse Nationals Sets Tentative Schedule

The International Arabian Horse Association® (IAHA®) Sport Horse Show Commission has set fees and approved a tentative schedule for the 2003 Arabian Sport Horse National Arabian and Half-Arabian Championship Horse Show. The show will be held at the Virginia Horse Center in Lexington, Virginia, on September 17-21, 2003. Chosen for its excellent dressage and hunter/jumper facilities and prime eastern location, the center's spacious 600-acre site has four indoor covered arenas, nine outdoor competition rings, five warm-up areas with two fully covered and a full cross-country course.

National championship classes at the five-day show will include dressage, hunter/jumper and sport horses classes for Arabians, Half-Arabians and Anglo-Arabians. (See the tentative schedule on page 2 for specific classes and times). All classes will payback 70 percent of total class entry fees as prize money to the champion, reserve champion and top ten.

Dressage horses will be required to have use those nationals qualifications that are already in place, but qualifications will be waived for hunter/jumpers and sport horses for the first year so that horses currently showing in open circuits can participate. All horses need to be Arabians, Half-Arabians or Anglo-Arabians registered with IAHA, the Arabian Horse Registry of America or the Canadian Arabian Horse Registry. The entry deadline for the show is August 6, 2003. No post entries will be accepted at the show. Class entry fees are $125. In addition there will be the following charges per horse: $50 office fee, $15 education/evaluation fee, $5 scoring fee and a $10 USA Equestrian fee. Hunter warm-up rounds are $25.

Stalls are available starting Monday, September 15 at 5:00 p.m. Regular horse/tack stalls are $175 and premium stalls are $215. Horses arriving early must make arrangements through the Virginia Horse Center by contacting Frank Bierman at 540-463-2194.
