Lauderdale Vaulting Group hosted the 2001 British Championships at Richmond Equestrian Centre near Catterick. The day was a huge success only due to the great support of the parents and many friends of British Vaulting.
RH Miller Fordel, Border Farm Supplies, AC Burn and Channel Seven TV network kindly donated prizes in kind for the participating vaulters, Janet Croft Equimins donated all lungers prizes and Balanced Horse feeds and the worshipful company of saddlers donated some great horse prizes.
Scottish vaulters performed well at all levels, winning the pre novice, novice and advanced team section and received many lovely comments from our visiting American Judge Sue Detol.

SEVT for the third year in a row came home the advanced team champions, the team of Philip Beasley, Ann Rogerson, Amy Panter, Gemma Hope, Mandy Rawlinson, Joanne Eccles, Louise Smith, Lucy Phillips and Jenni Dailly competed on Jenny Leggates Go North lunged by Rebecca Morgan. The team received their highest score ever of 7.160, which sets them up well in their bid to compete at the World Equestrian Games in Spain in September 2002.

Scotland also entered an intermediate team to compete in the compulsories section of the competition the team of Kirsty Brewis, Ruth Morris, Jim Pate(Lauderdale), Lorna Campbell, Kirsty Macwilliam, Caitlin Stokes, Hannah Eccles(Gleneagles) and Crystal Mulveena and Elspeth Adamson(Shieldbank) came together for the first time on the day to score 5.260, they competed on Go North.

Hannah Macgillivary from SEVT put in a great performance on Julie McNally's Bowler to receive the Female individual trophy for the second year running. Jenny Croft from Highland Vaulting Group finished in 4th place on Hevesh lunged by Janet Croft. Ann Rogerson finished in 5th place in her first ever-affiliated individual class on John Eccles WH Bentley. It was also John and his horse's first competition and the combination performed very well. The other Scots all competed on WH Bentley and finished as follows, Amy Panter in 7th place, Mandy Rawlinson in 8th, Jenni Dailly in 9th and Gemma Hope in 10th.

In the male section Daniel Mackay from SEVT put in a solid performance aboard Go North to come in second place 0.68 behind the winner. Philip Beasley from Shieldbank had a difficult time on his horse Lemons Ace lunged by Marianne Beasley and finished in 4th position.

In the novice team class the Scots were again head of affairs, the team from Gleneagles of Lorna Campbell, Gillian Dailly, Kirsty Mcwilliam, Caitlin Stokes, and Diana and Victoria Mclaren on board Ann Hunts Atrisco, put up a strong performance to win the class.

Lauderdale's young team won the pre novice team championships on board the team's new recruit, Jay owned by Miles Browne. The team of Kirsty Brewis, Ruth Morris, Jim Pate, Louise Clark, Pisie Trainer, Jordan Cleland, John Walker, Gina Walker and Catherine Tullie, performed well as it was the horses first ever competition, and also four of the young vaulters first vaulting competition.
Shiledbank finished in second place on Highland Glen lunged by Vic Beasley and Gleneagles finished third on ILPH Hattie lunged by Liz Mackay.

In the pairs class Lucy Phillips and Louise Smith from SEVT finished in second place on board Jay lunged by Rebecca Morgan, they managed to beat their older teammates Ann Rogerson and Mandy Rawlinson into third place, they competed on Go North.

The Scottish clubs continued well in the Fun classes with Joanne Eccles winning the under 14 canter individual class on board WH Bentley, Caitlin Stokes was third on Hevesh Lunged by Janet croft and Louise Smith was fourth again on WH Bentley.
In the under 14 pre novice canter individual class Hannah Eccles from Gleneagles won the class on WH Bentley and Linzi Hurles was third from Shieldbank on Highland Glen.

In the walk individual class Kirsty Macwilliam of Gleneagles had a good freestyle on Hevesh lunged by Janet Croft, Ruth Morris and Jim Pate of Lauderdale finished in third and fourth place on Louise Aitken- Walkers Murphy lunged by Helen Rogerson.

In the pre novice section Louise Clark from Lauderdale finished fourth on Murphy and Lucy Bremner finished in 6th place from Gleneagles on Hevesh.

The fun teams class provide the Scots with more prizes the Gleneagles team finished second on ILPH Hatti and Lauderdale finished in third on Murphy.

The fun pairs class which was judged by two young Scottish judges Hannah Macgilivary and Gemma Russell had some very funny routines and Lucy Philips and Louise Smith from SEVT won the class, Joanne Eccles and Ruth Morris also of SEVT were in a close second place, both these pairs competed on Liz Philips Garra Faira. Diana and Victoria Mclaren finished 4th and Gillian Dailly and Hannah Eccles finished 5th both these pairs are from Gleneagles and they competed on ILPH Hattie.

All the Scottish clubs performed very well at the championships and a huge thank you should go to Jenny Leggate for all her hard work and determination in organising the event.
