DESIGNER HEADWEAR

Visitors to the recent Equine Event on 3rd and 4th November 2001 could have been forgiven for thinking that they were seeing spots before their eyes. Leading Headwear Manufacturer Charles Owen & Co had created a further edition to their 'Designer Range'. The Dalmation Hat.

Thirteen year old Charley Rose from Cheshire, a successful show rider, wore the item throughout the CHAPS demonstrations, adding that finishing touch to her and Riverside Exchange's side saddle performance. Charley who is trained by Jane Carruthers (Quote - "The Best Trainer in the World") proved to be an enthusiastic model for Charles Owen and is delighted that she has been allowed to keep the product. Already she has been showing in Scotland and Cornwall whilst wearing it. The Dalmation Hat was previously known as the 'Cow Hat' but the links between coloured horses and ponies and the dalmation dog proved irresistable. Also out of respect to the farmers who have suffered due to the FMD crisis it was felt to be a more appropriate product name.

Further additions to the range include the Zebra and Giraffe. Charley is already trying to persuade her Trainers husband, Richard Carruthers, to wear the Giraffe number. He currently has a competition horse called 'The Giraffe' who has matching travel boots and a rug in a giraffe design. He would be head and shoulders above the competition in such an eyecatching outfit, but despite Charleys encouragement is currently reneging on the challenge.
