Addressing Future Of Olympics Available On USA Equestrian

A
letter addressed to the president of the Fédération
Equestre Internationale (FEI), Her Royal Highness, The Infanta
Doña Pilar de Borbon, addressing the matter of retaining
eventing in the Olympic Program is currently available on the
USA Equestrian web site at

The
letter, from USA Equestrian President Alan F. Balch, was written
in response to the receipt of the FEI Proposal to the IOC to Retain
Eventing in the 2008 Olympic Program received October 1 and after
meetings of the USA Equestrian Eventing Committee, an open meeting
of athletes, officials and organizers and an open meeting of leadership
via Internet webcast which included representatives of Mexico,
Canada, Australia and Bermuda, as well as the equestrian media.

USA
Equestrian Inc., as the National Equestrian Federation of the
U.S., is the regulatory body for the Olympic and World Championship
sports of dressage, driving, endurance, eventing, reining, show
jumping, and vaulting, as well as 19 other breeds and disciplines
of equestrian competition. As
the country's largest multi-breed organization, the Federation
has over 80,000 members and recognizes more than 2,800 competitions
nationwide each year. It governs all aspects of competition, including
educating and licensing all judges, stewards, and technical delegates
who officiate at these shows.
