horse Irish Team win Gijon (ESP) CSIO 5* Nations Cup

horse The Irish team consisting of four Irish Sport Horses, Killossery (ISH) ridden by Lt. Shane Carey (IRL), Splendido (ISH) ridden by Harry Marshall (IRL), Bornacoola (ISH) ridden by Capt. Gerry Flynn (IRL) and Gelvin Clover (ISH) ridden by Clem McMahon (IRL) jumped to success in the Gijon (ESP) CSIO 5* (August 28th to September 1st) winning the Nations Cup class there last Saturday.

Harry Marshall (IRL) and Splendido (ISH) went on to jump a double clear and win Mondays Gijon Grand Prix, with Killossery (ISH) and Lt. Shane Carey (IRL) coming fourth.
Lt Shane Carey (IRL) also won Mondays Premio Cafes Oquendo

1m40 class with Laughtons Lass (ISH), while Clem McMahon (IRL) rode Dark Flight (ISH) to take third in the same class. Laughtons Lass (ISH) also came second in both the opening Wednesdays 1m40 Premio Coca Cola and Thursdays 1m40 Premio Llagar Cortina class.

Western Station (ISH) ridden by Roberto Cristofoletti (ITA) came second in the 1m50 Premio Volvo class, with Royal Charmer (ISH) and Markus Fuchs (SUI) taking fifth. Royal Charmer (ISH) and Markus Fuchs (SUI) won Thursdays Premio Ales 1m50 class also. At the Rotterdam (NED) CSIO 5*, World Champion Dermott
Lennon (IRL) rode Ginger Watt (ID) to take third in last Saturdays Petroplus Prijs class. In Belgium, Swanky (ISH) and Tadayoshi Hyoshi (JPN) took sixth place in the Zandhoven CSI 2* Grand Prix.

Eventing:
Eventing action moved to Blair Castle last weekend where the CCI*** finished with two Irish Sport Horses in the final top ten. These were Highland Spirit (ISH) ridden by Jeanette Brakewell (GBR) into third place and Clover Spring (ISH) ridden by Elliot Newman (GBR) into sixth place.

Thirlestane Castle Scottish Championships CIC*** (August 17th) also finished with three Irish Sport Horses in the top ten: Glen Corran (ISH) ridden by Nicky Roncoroni (GBR) finished third, Don’t Step Back (ISH) and Patricia Donegan (IRL) came seventh while McKinlaigh (ISH) ridden by Gina Miles (USA) finished tenth.

In the Thirlestane CIC** The Masters Lady (ISH) took second place ridden by Sarah Cutteridge (GBR) while Kilmallock Dandy (ISH) ridden by Hayley Rose (GBR) came fourth.
