DEADLINE FOR SUBMISSION OF
PROPOSED RULE CHANGES EXTENDED |
USA Equestrian (formerly AHSA) announced today
that a presidential modification to Article 342 of the Rules relating to the
schedule for receiving rule change proposals has been granted for this year
only. This will allow for an extension of the due date for rule change
proposals from Saturday, September 15, 2001, to Monday, September 24, 2001. The
extension applies to submissions from USA Equestrian committees, councils and
staff.
According to Article IV, Sec. 2 of the USA Equestrian Constitution. "The
President (or the Vice-President if the President is unavailable, or the
Secretary if they both are unavailable, or the Treasurer if all three are
unavailable) shall make modification in the application of the Rules under
special circumstances and shall report any such modification granted to the
Executive Committee at its next meeting." USA Equestrian President Alan F.
Balch issued the presidential modification following the national tragedy on
Tuesday, September 11, owing to the extreme difficulties US citizens are
encountering in communication and travel.
USA Equestrian Inc., as the National Equestrian Federation of
the U.S., is the regulatory body for the Olympic and World Championship sports
of dressage, driving, endurance, eventing, reining, show jumping, and vaulting,
as well as 19 other breeds and disciplines of equestrian competition. As the
country's largest multi-breed organization, the Federation has over 77,000
members and recognizes more than 2,800 competitions nationwide each year. It
governs all aspects of competition, including educating and licensing all
judges, stewards, and technical delegates who officiate at these
shows.
