USA EQUESTRIAN APPROVES RECORD
NUMBER OF COMPETITIONS |
USA Equestrian (formerly AHSA) announced today that it has approved a record
number of competitions for the 2001 competition year with 2,803 sanctioned to
date. This figure compares with year-end totals of 2,742 for 2000 and 2,717 for
1999.
The figure for 2001 is expected to continue to rise as competitions are still
being approved. Applications for competition dates can be received in the
office up to 30, 45, 60 or 90 days prior to the competition date depending on
the type of competition. The USA Equestrian 2001 competition year ends with
competitions having a start date of November 30th. Competitions with a start
date of December 1st or after fall into the 2002 competition year.
"It's good to see that the Federation continues to experience steady
growth in the number of recognized competitions year after year. This optimizes
competition opportunities at both existing and new venues with orderly
growth." said Katriona McElligott, Assistant Executive Director of
Regulation.
USA Equestrian Inc., as the National Equestrian Federation of
the U.S., is the regulatory body for the Olympic and World Championship sports
of dressage, driving, endurance, eventing, reining, show jumping, and vaulting,
as well as 19 other breeds and disciplines of equestrian competition. As the
country's largest multi-breed organization, the Federation has over 77,000
members and recognizes more than 2,800 competitions nationwide each year. It
governs all aspects of competition, including educating and licensing all
judges, stewards, and technical delegates who officiate at these
shows.
