Culpeper Jenny Miller and Simba Win Pre-Green Hunter Champion and Wild Card for $25,000 Invitational at Cosequin USGPL Finals

CULPEPER, VA (September 27, 2001)--Jenny Miller of Winter Park, Florida, riding Simba owned by White Oak Farm, Inc., was named the Pre-Green Hunter Champion of the Cosequin® U.S. Grand Prix League Finals Horse Show today. The win automatically qualified Simba to compete as the Wild Card entry in the $25,000 Cosequin® USGPL Pre-Green Hunter Invitational sponsored by Stillwell-Hansen, Inc. & Four Winds Farm to be held on Saturday, September 29. Ms. Miller trains with Peter Foley of Aldee, Virginia. Jerry Dougherty of Geneva, Illinois, designed the hunter ring courses.

"The quality of horses ran deep. Knowing that this was the last chance to qualify for this weekend's Final, there were more than 40 horses vying for the one available slot. The electricity level was very high," said Dougherty. "Simba and Jenny Miller did a great job in a hotly contested championship. The riders already qualified used this week's Pre-Green Division to sharpen their horses for the Final on Saturday."

A Pre-Green Hunter is a horse in its first year of showing over fences 3' or higher. The top 30 Pre-Green Hunters who have accumulated the most points in the Pre-Green Hunter Classes at Cosequin® USGPL Member Event Shows throughout the season have qualified to participate in the $25,000 Pre-Green Hunter Invitational sponsored by Stillwell-Hansen & Four Winds Farm on September 29.

During this year's League season, points were attributed to the horse only and awarded First Place through Sixth Place as follows: 10, 6, 4, 2, 1, ½. All horses received points for the Under Saddle class as well as the over Fences Classes. If the horse was sold during the League Season, his accumulated points were allowed to be transferred to the new owner upon notifying the League Office of the change in ownership. The Horse/Owner must be registered with the League for points to count.

The Invitational Finals classes of the Cosequin® USGPL will be contested on Saturday and Sunday, September 29 and 30. The competitions are:
$25,000 Pre-Green Hunter sponsored by Stillwell-Hansen & Four Winds Farm,
Saturday, Sept. 29
$15,000 Junior/Amateur-Owner Jumper Low, Sunday, Sept. 30, 8am
$25,000 Junior/Amateur-Owner Jumper High, Sunday, Sept. 30, 10am, and
$100,000 Cosequin® Grand Prix Sunday, Sunday, Sept. 30, 1:00pm
