Hampton Style On Display At 26th Annual Hampton Classic Horse Show

BRIDGEHAMPTON, NY (September 2, 2001) - Sundays at The Hampton Classic Horse Show are all about style. From extravagantly decorated ladies' hats to the specially designed Triple Crown Custom blankets presented to the winning horses, The Hampton Classic Horse Show has come to epitomize The Hamptons style.

On Sundays at The Hampton Classic, the yellow-and-white VIP tents lining the grand prix arena become an outdoor party with well-appointed tables laden with magnificent flowers. Each table has its own white-coated waiter, and celebrities rub elbows with winning riders.

For Hampton Classic Horse Show sponsors, their tables in the VIP tents are time to shine. Here's what we saw on a stroll through the VIP tent:

Land Rover Long Island: An arrangement of sunflowers and rocks with a tiny model Land Rover
Pfizer Animal Health: Buckets of cookies shaped and iced like horses and ribbons
Roederer Champagne: Two large engraved silver wine coolers with horse head handles filled with chilled champagne
Del Laboratories: Tropical pink tablecloths set with philodendron leaf placemats

David Yurman: Colorful striped tablecloths and purple napkins; bamboo ballroom chairs with fuschia cushions; baskets filled with hydrangeas and roses
Adequan/Luitpold Pharmaceuticals: Napkin rings decorated with bits;colorful arrangements of wildflowers with horse head bronzes in the center
Credit Suisse/First Boston: Silver vases of deep purple roses; white china horses
Triple Crown Custom: A specially made Hampton Classic award horse blanket as a tablecloth
Two Trees Stable: A large running horse wind vane; a brass pedestal cake plate with horse heads and hunting whips
Wolffer Estate Wine: A jungle theme with leopard print tablecloths
Lalique: A 12-inch crystal urn filled with roses; "grass" placemats; zebra-decorated china; Lalique stemware and galloping Lalique crystal horses

The 26th Annual Hampton Classic Horse Show ended today (September 2) in Bridgehampton with three high stakes events that delighted the crowd: the $150,000 Prudential Financial Grand Prix presented by David Yurman; the $50,000 AmeriChoice Eastern Finals of the Young Jumper Championships; and the $25,000 Calvin Klein Jumping Show Jumping Derby; and the $100,000 New Things Grand Prix Bonus Challenge.

More than 60,000 spectators enjoyed seeing some of the country's finest equine athletes in action during the past 10 days with non-stop competition going on in The Hampton Classic's five well-groomed rings at once.

The Classic has become a tradition for top national competitors, including veterans from the U.S. Equestrian Team such as Jeffrey Welles, Tim Grubb, Laura Kraut, Nona Garson, Leslie Howard, Todd Minikus and many others. The Hampton Classic attracts 1,800 show hunters and jumpers from as far away as California, Florida, Texas and Canada.

The Hampton Classic Horse Show benefits the Southampton Hospital, the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation and the United States Equestrian Team. Offering up the best in show jumping, there is no other competition that brings together the hunter-jumper circuit with thousands of spectators, extravagant social events, celebrities, shopping and fine dining in the Hamptons.
