U.S. Team Finishes 5th In Nations Cup

The United States Jumping team finished in fifth place in the Samsung Nations Cup Final, held August 24, 2002, in Donaueschingen, Germany.

The U.S. team was made up of the riders who have qualified for the World Equestrian Games and included Molly Ashe and Kroon Gravin (Grandville - Dalgravin, by Ramiro), Leslie Howard and Priobert de Kalvarie (Kimball - Dorothee de Kalvarie, by Flugel Van La Roche), Nicole Shahinian Simpson and El Campeon's Cirka Z (Quidam De Revel - Phedra Rateliere, by Belphegor IV) and Peter Wylde and Fein Cera (Landadel x Cera), along with Chef d'Equipe Frank Chapot.

Italy won their first ever Samsung Nations Cup World Final with Belgium landing in 2nd and France in 3rd. Germany, who was the favorite and leader in the standings, pulled out of the 2nd round after an unfortunate 1st round.

USA Equestrian Inc., as the National Equestrian Federation of the U.S., is the regulatory body for the Olympic and World Championship sports of dressage, driving, endurance, eventing, reining, show jumping, and vaulting, as well as 19 other breeds and disciplines of equestrian competition. As
the country's largest multi-breed organization, the Federation has over 80,000 members and recognizes more than 2,800 competitions nationwide each year. It governs all aspects of competition, including educating and licensing all judges, stewards, and technical delegates who officiate at these shows.
