Lake Placid, NY—July 11, 2004—Joan Jacobs of East Aurora, NY rode Nero Van Het to victory in the Lake Placid Lodge WIHS Adult Jumper Classic on the final day of the 27th annual I Love New York Horse Show in Lake Placid.

The huge starting field of 61 horses saw 23 qualify for the jump-off by riding without penalty over the 15-jump, first-round course at the North Elba Showgrounds. Of those 23, eight then rode fault-free over the seven-jump tiebreaker course. Of those eight, Jacobs and Nero Van Het had the fastest time, finishing in 29.635 seconds to claim the win. Placing second was Patricia Kobble of Califon, NJ who finished the jump-off fault-free in 31.081 seconds on Quendolline.

The 2004 Lake Placid and I Love New York Horse Shows were the most successful in the shows’ 35-year history. Record turnout, record sponsorship, and non-stop fun in the Adirondacks sent everyone home happy. Added in was the excitement of mixing with a variety of celebrities including actresses like Glenn Close and Alfrie Woodard, rock stars like Bruce Springsteen and Patti Scialfa, and TV news hosts like Paula Zahn and Lou Dobbs.

“Our goal in Lake Placid is to put on the best horse shows anywhere and to make sure that everyone has fun,” said Lake Placid Horse Show Chairman Richard M. Feldman. “We have a party in Lake Placid and we call it ‘Everyday’ because everyday is a party at the Lake Placid Horse Shows.”
