All Breed Event

A horse is a horse, of course. But, a traditional division among the various breeds of horses and the people who work with them has developed over the years, keeping networking between all horse people to a minimum.

Can-Am Equine is attempting to break down these barriers by offering an All Breeds Equine Emporium March 13 through 16, 2003 at London's Western Fair Grounds. Seize this rare opportunity to hear guest speakers from across North America addressing major topics concerning the equine industry.
"I think there'll be something for everyone there." Says Dr. Ken Armstrong, executive director of the Equine Research Centre (ERC) at the University of Guelph. Proceeds from the event will aid equine research.

"We're looking at a number of issues here," Armstrong explains. "Thirty years ago most people had an agricultural background. Now, the largest percentage (interested in horses) has no agricultural background. Nowadays, you have a higher number of people with an education and money to spend. They have a need for information, a need for quality products. That's where something like this comes in."
ERC's goal is to offer a comprehensive horse/health program that includes education, training, communications, research and service. "Our mandate is to be the industry's link or portal to the university," says Armstrong. "Conversely, our association with the university is to take everything they have to offer to the industry. It's a collaborative thing."

There is a general feeling that all breeds of horse people working together is a positive approach, offering strength and advancement to the industry as a whole. " I think people are becoming more of a mind to work together," Armstrong says.

So, whether you ride, race or show, all you need to know about horses will be at Can-Am's All Breed Equine Emporium next March.
