Light Therapy
Light therapy has been shown in over 40
years of independent research worldwide to deliver powerful therapeutic
benefits to living tissues and organisms. Both visible red and infrared light
have been shown to effect at least 24 different positive changes at a cellular
level. |
Visible red light, penetrates tissue to a depth of
about 8-10 mm and is very beneficial in treating problems close to the surface
such as wounds, cuts, scars, trigger and acupuncture points and is particularly
effective in treating infections. Infrared light (904nm) penetrates to a depth
of about 30-40 mm which makes it more effective for bones, joints, deep muscle,
etc.

Tips for Feeding on the Day of a
Competition
An important part of preparing for a competition
is to ensure that the horses diet is appropriate for the level and type
of work being done. Once this is established there should be no need to change
the horses diet in the days leading up to a competition. Although disruptions
to a horses routine should be avoided as much as possible it is often
impossible not to have to make some alterations on competition day.

Communicating with Animals
Animal Communication is the ability to converse
with animals through telepathy (an exchange of pictures, thoughts, words,
emotions and feelings). Animal Communicator, Debbie McGillivray uses her
ability to help people and animals understand each other on a deeper
level. |
"My goal as an animal communicator is to
bridge the gap of understanding between people and animals to cultivate
healing, understanding and growth. It is through this subtle communication that
questions are answered, compromise is achieved and harmony restored."

Can you help the Connemara
Classics?
The Connemara pony is known worldwide for its
sturdiness and versatility and in the west of Ireland a group of people are
adding another string to their bow by organising this fantastic musical display
team. The aim is to have all ten ponies ridden aside, to give a wonderful
visual spectacle and promote not only our ponies but the Art of riding
aside. |
However, we have only four saddles and are
looking for another six, so can anyone out there help us? All saddles would be
fully insured and hired at the current hire price. Our ponies are no smaller
the 148cm and the largest is 158cm. Please click here

The Peruvian Paso
This horse, one of the world's last
remaining naturally gaited breeds, is becoming a sensation among American horse
enthusiasts for several very good reasons.
There is "something for everyone" in
this smooth, elegant animal; riding comfort, strength and stamina for the avid
trail rider; calm tractable disposition so important in the family mount;
arrogant, flashy presence and action which set the exhibitor and parader apart
from others, and investment potential solidly supported by its relative rarity
and increasing popularity.

The Importance of a Good Vet
One of the most important people in
your breeding programme is the veterinary surgeon, whether it is for natural
covering or artificial insemination.
From the time that you make the decision to put
your mare in foal to the time that she actually gives birth a good vet will be
a constant source of advice and information. A good relationship with your vet,
based on mutual trust and respect is essential.

The Clydesdale Horse
The primary purpose of this breed was literally as
a farm workhorse - true horse power prior to mechanisation. From the early days
the reputation of the horse grew considerably and the horse fairs held over
several days in the Lanarkshire area attracted buyers from far and wide looking
for draught horses to fulfil a variety of roles in the haulage field.
In these mechanised days the Clydesdale horse is
taking on a variety of new roles -

The ILPH
More than any other animal the horse is
inextricably linked with human history. He has carried conquering armies from
the Huns to the Mongols and increased the spread of trade, shaping the world as
we know it today. His influence on our culture has been profound.
In the United Kingdom the ILPH runs farms
dedicated to the rescue and rehabilitation of horses with over 300 equines in
care at any one time. Working in the developing world, the ILPH runs
educational and training courses in equine management, saddlery, harness
making, farriery, veterinary care and nutrition to combat the major causes of
equine suffering and help the owners to help themselves.

The
Evolution of the Horse
The origin of equines can be traced to
the Eocene period, between 60 and 50 million years ago. Eohippus, or Dawn
Horse, was about the size of a Cocker Spaniel - 14 inches at the shoulder - and
is thought to have weighed about twelve pounds. He had four toes on the front
legs and three on the back, which were padded like those of a dog and allowed
easy movement over wet ground. These toes and pads are now the ergots and
splint bones found on the legs of the modern horse.

"Seeing Double" - or
"Double Trouble"??
Twin foals in the equine world that
survive are very rare - and in the Clydesdale world this verges on the unique.
So it is most unusual to have surviving twins born in successive years - but
this has happened in both 1999 and 2000.

Reining - What it's all
about
Reining is not a sport for rough and tough
cowboys. It's finesse, precision, discipline, and beauty.
The reining horse's skills is what's essential to
a western horse - to work on a loose rein and off the hindquarters. |
The sport is not only becoming ever more popular
all over the continent, even the world, but today's reining has evolved to a
highly refined western dressage class that is a far cry from what reining
looked like 20 years ago.

The Budenny
The breed is a good example of the Russian
approach to the horse. By centuries-old Russian standards a horse should be a
real all-rounder: good under the saddle and when hitched into a
carriage. |
The Budenny is a Russian-style
universal half-bred horse, bred as a perfect charger for Russian cavalry
officers. Now it is bred for sports, racing, and as a light-draft horse.

Equine Reiki
Reiki (pronounced Ray-Key) is a
Japanese word meaning Universal life energy. Reiki is an ancient
form of healing believed to have spread through Tibet, China and India. Reiki
is very effectively used to treat all manner of conditions, but really holds
its own when dealing with psychological/behavioural problems because it does
not simply train the horse not to exhibit unacceptable behaviour patterns, it
resolves the energy block causing the behaviour pattern in the first
place. |
