Many Were Called, Few Were Chosen

SCOPE, Ireland's first and only "elite" auction of young showjumping, eventing, and dressage prospects, selected on June 18-19 horses for the inaugural SCOPE Auction on August 2-3.

The selected horses that passed the veterinary and x-ray examinations carry with them bloodlines of Irish, Warmblood, and Thoroughbred super-sires such as Cavalier Royale, Ballinvella XX, Burggraaf, Chair Lift XX, Clover Hill, Condios, Cruising, Ekstein, Heartbreaker, King of Diamonds, Landgraf I, Master Imp XX, Pilot, Roven XX, Sky Boy XX, and Voltaire.

The SCOPE Selection Committee inspected a large group of excellent foals, yearlings, and two-year-olds drawn from the four corners of Ireland and Northern Ireland. The committee, comprised of chairman Jaap Werners (chairman of the KWPN Stallion Inspection Committee) and Olympians Ned Campion (IRL-showjumping), Jennie Loriston-Clarke (UK-dressage), and Gillian Rolton (AUS-eventing) were very impressed with the high quality of the presented horses. The committee was very strict in their selections, judging on bloodlines, conformation, movement, athleticism, and potential for excellence in sport. The two-year-olds were lightly loose jumped. Owners who returned home with a horse selected for the inaugural SCOPE Auction were confident that they owned one of the "very best of the best" young horses in Ireland.

The inaugural SCOPE Auction will be held on the weekend of 2-3 August at the Kill International Equestrian Centre in Kill, County Kildare in conjunction with Morningside Stud's 3rd International Breeders Conference. The Irish Horse Board will award a generous payment, under the Inward Buyer Programme, to subsidize the travel costs of buyers from outside of Ireland who export a horse through SCOPE.

Further details about SCOPE, the International Breeders Conference, and the SCOPE catalogue may be found at www.scope-auction.com or by ringing +353.87.222.9701 The SCOPE catlogue will be available for viewing and downloading in early July.
