BACK FROM AACHEN...

2006 WORLD EQUESTRIAN GAMES

The countdown has begun: In the course of the World Equestrian Festival, CHIO Aachen 2003, the fixed date as well as the official logo for the FEI World Equestrian Games Aachen 2006 were presented. The World Championships in seven equestrian disciplines will take place from 22 August to 3 September 2006 on the traditional tournament grounds of the Aachen-Laurensberger Renverein e.V. (ALRV). The organisers await 800 participants with 875 horses and more than 500.000 spectators.

IN 2005, two new tribunes are planned to be built in the jumping stadium. At the Eastern side of the stadium, a completely new tribune with an integrated press centre will be built, furthermore it is planned to re-design the main Tribune.

The event's budget amounts to 36 Million Euro. Half of it is made up of sponsoring, ticketing, TV-rights, the shopping street, hospitality or licensing. The prize money during the event will amount to 1.353.000 Euro.

SILVER CAMERA AWARD

The SIlver Camera Award for the Best Equestrian Photo of the Year 2002/2003Award went to the German photographer Karl-Heinz Frieler for "tears of joy" and was presented by Swiss tennis star Martina Hingis. TOP DRIVER AWARD

On Saturday, Jack Pemberton, Chairman of the Driving Committee, handed over the Top Driver Award, supported by Finn Caspersen, to the 2002 winner Christoph Sandmann (GER). After Aachen CAIO, Ysbrand Chardon (NED) leads the 2003 standings of the Top Driver Award with 48 points, followed by Boyd Excell (AUS) and Harry de Ruyter (NED). SAMSUNG SUPER LEAGUE
The Irish put in another stunning performance to record their second Samsung Super League victory and their third Nations Cup win in a row when topping the line-up at the Mercedez-Benz Nations Cup on Friday.

In a thrilling clash in which the result was only decided by the final rider into the ring the boys in green held firm to pip a much-improved Belgian squad for the honours, while the league leaders from France had to settle for fifth spot this time.

CHIO Aachen attendance was exceptionally high. Including the 44.000 driving fans on Saturday morning in the Forest of Aachen and the 45.000 visitors on the final Sunday, altogether 313.500 friends of equestrian sports attended this year's tournament in the Soers.


EUROPEAN JUMPING CHAMPIONSHIP

The Organisers of the European Jumping Championships held a press conference in Aachen, where they presented the programme. The Championship will be held
in Donaueschingen (GER) from 20 to 24 August 2003. For the first time, a combined entry and accreditation system will allow federations to send their entries online. The new system is called HippoBase and is expected to facilitate and accelerate the accreditation procedures for all participants, including media.

The course will be designed by Olympic course designer Olaf Petersen, who is the Chairman of the FEI Jumping Committee.

The castle grounds will be open to the public. Visitors will only have to pay an entrance fee for the jumping arena, as well as for the driving marathon on Saturday.

A CAI-A part of the Top Driver Award will be organised in conjunction with the championship.

Tickets for the European championship cost between seven (standing for adults) and 47 Euro (seat for adults), Tickets for the whole event are available from 35 Euro (standing) to 125 Euro (seat). Young persons up to 18 years, handicapped people and students by showing a valid student card will pay eight Euro for a standing on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, and have free entrance on Wednesday and Thursday. The tickets can be bought in advance at the Tourismus- und Sportamt Donaueschingen, under the following numbers: (telephone +49 7 71 85 72 21, fax +49 7 71 85 72 28).

EUROPEAN JUMPING CHAMPIONSHIP FOR YOUNG RIDERS

The European Jumping Championship for Young Riders will take place from 2 to 6 July 2006 in Le Touquet (FRA). Twenty-one nations have announced their participation: France, Germany, Belgium, Austria, Great Britain, Ireland, Italy, Norway, the Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Czech Republic, Switzerland, Croatia. In addition individuals from the following countries will compete: Croatia, Denmark, Spain, Estonia, Hungary, Israel, and Luxemburg.

It is the third time that the European Jumping Championship is organised in Le Touquet. A CSI for Juniors will be organised in conjunction with the Championship.

EUROPEAN PONY CHAMPIONSHIP IN JUMPING, DRESSAGE AND EVENTING

The European Pony Championships return to Ireland after 15 years and will be held from 22 to 27 July in Necarne Castle. So far, 15 nations have announced
their participation.
