EXECUTIVE BOARD
The Executive Board held a meeting on 11 June 2032 in Athens (GRE).
The main decisions taken were the following:
- 2005 European Driving Pairs Championship
On the recommendation of the Driving Committee the Executive Board
allocated the above Championship to Pratoni del Vivaro (ITA) on
1 to 3 July.
- Dressage World Cup rules
The Executive Board approved several modifications to the World
Cup rules for Dressage as recommended by the Dressage Committee,
to be effective for the next World Cup season. The modifications
will be published in the next FEI Bulletin and on the website.
- Olympic Regulations
The Executive Board approved the revised version of the Olympic
Regulations for the 2004 Olympic Games. They will now be presented
to the IOC and then
published as soon as possible.
- Children's Committee
The Executive Board took note of the resignation of Mr Helio Pessoa
(BRA) and approved the replacement by Mrs Elane Zander (BRA) as
new Children's
Committee member until the end of Mr Pessoa's term expiring in 2005.
- 2010 WEG - Time frame for allocation
In line with the proposed changes to the FEI General Regulations
the Executive Board agreed to set the time frame relating to the
allocation of the 2010 World Equestrian Games as follows: applications
should be submitted by 15 July 2004 and the final bids should reach
the FEI by 15 October 2004.
During their stay in Athens the Board members visited the 2004 Olympic
Games equestrian venue in Markopoulo. They were impressed by the
progress of the constructions and the advanced stage of preparations
for the Eventing Test event scheduled to take place from14 to 17
August this year.
At a joint meeting between the FEI Executive Board, the representatives
of ATHOC and the representatives of the construction company numerous
issues relating to the infrastructure were discussed; e.g. capacity
of the grandstands, the footing and obstacle designs. The Executive
Board members were pleased with the positive outcome of the meeting
and confirmed their confidence in the further progress and achievement
of the remaining work.
The next meting will take place on 8 September 2003 in Warendorf
(GER).

FRANCE
STILL LEAD THE WAY..
The French still head the leaderboard as the Samsung Super League
series moves to the halfway stage in Aachen next week, but their
lead has narrowed considerably as the Irish pile on the pressure
after their superb victory in St Gallen 12 days ago.
The league table has almost divided itself in two - with France,
Ireland, Great Britain and Germany battling it out at the top
while Sweden, Belgium, Italy and Holland struggle to survive at
the bottom end.
Aachen, of course, is the one they all want to win. The status
of this equestrian fixture is second to none and victory here
is as sweet as it gets. With a budget of 8.5m Euro it has been
voted the World's Best Outdoor Event by international riders for
the last 15 years. The arena, one of the biggest in the world
with a capacity for 40,000 spectators, encloses a spectacular
range of obstacles including hedges, ditches and the famous lake
so horses must be particularly brave, and experience counts for
a great deal when riding those fences.
Even at this very early stage of the normal Samsung Nations Cup
series, with just three of the 17 legs completed, it is clear
that the Swiss are determined to earn promotion to Super League
status for next year. They currently lead the Samsung Nations
Cup league table by a margin of just one point ahead the Spanish
and, as it stands at present, the Dutch, Italians, Belgians and
Swedes are threatened by relegation as they struggle to stay afloat
at Super League level - but it is still all to play for with another
five legs of the series remaining.

EUROPEAN JUMPING CHAMPIONSHIP IN DONAUESCHINGEN (GER)
47. Prinz Kari zu Fürstenberg-Turnier
20th - 24th of August 2003
Four times in Aachen, two times in Munich and once in Mannheim:
Those were the previous venues of European jumping championships
in Germany. Donaueschingen is the fourth German city to host the
European championship which will be held from 20 to 24 August.
The medals for the individual ranking will be given in the Fürstenberg
castle grounds for the 27th time - as the history of the European
championship started in 1957 - the team ranking will be held for
the 16th time.

EVENTING WORLD CUP
HOOLEY DOOLEY AS NICK TAKES OUT AUSTRALIA'S FIRST WORLD CUP QUALIFIER

Victoria's Nick Roe and Wondaree Hooley Dooley have taken out
Australia's first world cup qualifier in Werribee Park (AUS) from
7 to 9 June, after completing one of only two clear showjumping
rounds to finish convincing winners, nearly 10 points clear of
their nearest rival.
Part owned by Catherine Wallace, the scopey Hooley Dooley finished
on his dressage score of 55.1 as the rest of the field literally
fell in a heap on showjumping day which has become known as Australia's
"weakest link" in recent times.
The only other clear round went to Michael Baker and the 14 year
old gelding G.S. Chevalier which moved them up from 8th into 2nd.
After initially being eliminated cross country for allegedly taking
out a flag at the "Vicarige V" but having been reinstated
after her protest was upheld after producing video evidence which
showed this was not the case, Atlanta Gold Medalist Wendy Schaeffer
and Sun Smart went into the final day 10 points ahead of their
nearest rival.
Six rails later and they were relegated to third on 65.5 while
Megan Jones and the resurgent Kirby Park Irish Hallmark, after
lying in second position on day 2, dropped 3 rails and accrued
7 time penalties to finish in 4th on 70.6.
Thailand's Pongsiree Bunluewong and Eliza Jane came from 17th
after the dressage to jump the second fastest round cross country
and had just the two rails to take 5th on 72.3.
Tim Boland produced the quinella in the CCI*** class with Limitless
and Kildonan Tug after overnight leaders and World Equestrian
Games representatives Olivia Bunn and GV Top Of The Line were
eliminated in the showjumping.
Riders wishing to qualify to represent Australia at the World
Cup Final in Pau, France, in October will now head to Warwick,
Queensland to contest the second Australian qualifier from July
26-27.
