Equine Excellence in Miniature. Setting a standard of equine excellence in miniature, athletes competing in the championships stand only 34 inches and under and weigh an average of 175 pounds. The result of nearly 400 years of selective breeding, American Miniature Horses are "miniature" versions of well-balanced horses, possessing confirmation characteristics found in most equine breeds. Found in a rainbow of colors and types, the versatile American Miniature Horse excels in a variety of disciplines including jumping and driving.

AMHA 25th Anniversary Celebration. Twenty-five years ago, a group of dedicated horsemen gathered together to create the American Miniature Horse Association. Their goal was simple to promote the breeding, use and perpetuation of the American Miniature Horse breed, separate and apart from ponies and other small equines. Thanks to the dedication of its members, the strength of its leadership and the support of its corporate sponsors, AMHA continues to hold fast to its mission, build upon its foundations, and grow. Join AMHA at one of its championship events and throughout the year as it celebrates 25 years of the American Miniature Horse, the Horse for Everyone.

Founded in 1978, the American Miniature Horse Association promotes the breeding, use and perpetuation of a standard of equine excellence in miniature. Known as "the horse for everyone", Miniature Horses registered with AMHA must meet the association standards of perfection and cannot exceed 34 inches in height. Headquartered in Alvarado, Texas, AMHA is the world's leading Miniature Horse registry and sixth largest foal-producing equine breed registry with more than 140,000 horses and 12,000 members in 30 countries and provinces.
