Vaulting Committee Selects WEG Competitors

The USA Equestrian Vaulting Committee met on June 20, 2002 to review the scores of the vaulting teams and individual competitors applying to be a part of the United States Vaulting Team for the 2002 World Equestrian Games in Jerez, Spain. The Vaulting Committee selected three individual male vaulters, with one alternate, three individual female vaulters, with one alternate, and one team to represent the United States. These selections are pending final approval at the July 9, 2002 meeting of the USA Equestrian Board of Directors. The selected athletes are listed below:

Individual Male Vaulters
Vaulter #1: Devon Maitozo
Vaulter #2: Kenny Geisler
Vaulter #3: Erik Martonovich
Alternate: Blake A. Dahlgren

Individual Female Vaulters
Vaulter #1: Samantha Smith
Vaulter #2: Pamela Geisler
Vaulter #3: Jill Main
Alternate: Julie Keville

USA Equestrian Inc., as the National Equestrian Federation of the U.S., is the regulatory body for the Olympic and World Championship sports of dressage, driving, endurance, eventing, reining, show jumping, and vaulting, as well as 19 other breeds and disciplines of equestrian competition. As
the country's largest multi-breed organization, the Federation has over 80,000 members and recognizes more than 2,800 competitions nationwide each year. It governs all aspects of competition, including educating and licensing all judges, stewards, and technical delegates who officiate at these shows.
