CSIO Superleague success for Irish Sport Horses

Last Saturdays 60,000 Euro Derby de la Region des Pays de la Loire at the CSIO Superleague at La Baule, France (May 8th to 11th), was won by Double O Seven (ISH) ridden by Philippe Lejeune (Bel). This pairing also took fourth place in the opening Thursdays Prix Diane Barriere Desseigne 1m45 class.

Also competing at La Baule was Coolcorron Cool Diamond (ISH), who was ridden by Robert Splaine (Ire) to take fourth place in Fridays 100,000 Euro La Baule Grand Prix CSIO Superleague. This class was won by Irish rider Billy Twomey riding Luidam to beat For Pleasure and Marcus Ehning (Ger) into second place. Coolcorron Cool Diamond (ISH) was also on the Irish team competing in Sundays Samsung Nations Cup Superleague where he was one of only three horses to perform a double clear round.

Irish Sport Horses were also well represented at the Cervia, Italy CSI A last weekend. Fridays 1m40 class was won by Lismore Clover (ISH) and Lt. David O’Brien (Ire). Conor Swail (Ire) and Windgates King Koal (ISH) took third in the 1m45 class also on Friday. Conor went on to come second in Saturdays 1m45 with Windgates King Koal (ISH) and then won Sundays 1m35 class with Windgates Mystique (ISH). Rincoola Abu (ISH) and Capt. Gerry Flynn (Ire) came second in Saturdays 1m45 class.

Eventing action moved to Chatsworth last weekend where the CIC*** saw Matt Butler (ISH) and Leslie Law take fifth place.
