Vinoski Named USET Athlete of the Month for April 2002

Gladstone,
NJ—May 1, 2002—Kimberly Vinoski of Scottsville, VA was
named the United States Equestrian Team (USET) Athlete of the
Month for April following her win at the Rolex Kentucky Three-Day
Event CCI****, presented by Bayer. The win, on Winsome Adante,
a nine-year-old English Thoroughbred owned by Plain Dealing Farm,
at the Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington, April 25-28, 2002, marked
Vinoski’s first win at the Olympic-level.
Vinoski,
who was sitting in fourth position following the completion of
dressage on Friday, posted a clear cross-country round on a rainy
Saturday, one of only four on the day. In Sunday’s final
phase of stadium jumping held in windy conditions, Vinoski picked
up eight penalties after having two rails down, but managed to
hang on to the lead with a three-day total of 56.20 penalty points.
"I
am a very lucky person to have the owner that I do and very fortunate
to do what I love," said Vinoski. Vinoski left the Rolex
Kentucky Three-Day Event with a winner's check of $60,000 and
a Rolex timepiece.
The
Rolex Kentucky Three-Day Event served as a USET selection trial
for this year’s Eventing World Championships to be held at
the World Equestrian Games in Spain in September. Vinoski beat
out an international field that included Olympic and World Championship
veterans from Australia, Canada, Great Britain, Ireland and the
United States.
Vinoski
rode Over The Limit to victory in the Rolex/USET Three-Star Spring
Championship at the Rolex Kentucky Three Day Event, presented
by Bayer, in 1999. In 2001, Vinoski won the Blenheim CCI*** in
Woodstock, England on Winsome Adante. Earlier that year, she rode
Winsome Adante to the Reserve Championship in the USET Three-Star
Spring Championship at the MBNA Foxhall Cup.
