Show Jumping Hall of Fame Jumper Classic Series
Kicks Off 2003 Season

Tampa, FL – April 7, 2003 – The Show Jumping Hall of Fame Jumper Classic Series started its 2003 competition with six exciting events held in the East Conference and one in the West Conference. The series kicked off in February and runs through November, culminating in a Year-End Championship to be held at the National Horse Show.

Evan Coluccio and Romeo took the early lead in the junior division in the East Conference, while Tani Zeidler Anderson and Illusion sit in first place in the amateur-owner division. In the West Conference, Megan Edrick and Just On Time lead the junior division, while Nicole LaMott and Laredo sit atop the amateur-owner division standings.

Show Jumping Hall of Fame Jumper Classic Series East Conference – Junior Division
In the first East Conference competition of the season, the $15,000 BET on Jazz Junior Jumper Classic, held during the Zada Enterprises Wellington Masters, February 19-23 in Wellington, FL, Evan Coluccio took first place aboard White Russian.

Cody Baird and Orlandia rode away with the win in the $15,000 BET on Jazz Junior Jumper Classic, held at the Tommy Bahama Palm Beach Open in Wellington, FL, February 26 – March 2. Ashlee Bond rode Fabius 45 to the win in the $15,000 BET on Jazz Junior Jumper Classic held at the Cosequin Wellington Finale in Wellington, FL, March 5-9.

In a combined class, the $10,000 High Junior/Amateur-Owner Jumper Classic, held March 12-16 at the Suncoast Internationale in Tampa, FL, Charlie Jayne placed first aboard Melbourne.

In the $10,000 High Junior Jumper Classic, held March 19-23 at the Tampa Bay Classic in Tampa, FL, Coluccio rode Romeo to victory. Melissa Orlick and Intersat Floyd took first place in the $10,000 High Junior Jumper Classic held at the Tournament of Champions in Tampa, FL, March 25-29.

Show Jumping Hall of Fame Jumper Classic Series East Conference – Amateur-Owner Division

In the $15,000 High Amateur-Owner Jumper Classic, held during the Zada Enterprises Wellington Masters, Cara Raether and So What 908 finished in first place.

The following weekend at the Tommy Bahama Palm Beach Open, Series leader Tani Zeidler Anderson emerged victorious aboard Illusion.

Ashley Baker and Dollar D’Amour took the blue ribbon in the $15,000 High Amateur-Owner Jumper Classic, held at the Cosequin Wellington Finale.

With their second place finish, amateur-owner rider Erin Stewart and Karat became the highest-placing pair in the $10,000 Junior/Amateur-Owner Jumper Classic at the Suncoast Internationale.

At the Tampa Bay Classic, Rebecca Astrom claimed the win in the $10,000 High Amateur-Owner Jumper Classic aboard Jolien, and Cara Cheska rode Education to a first place finish the following weekend at the Tournament of Champions.

Show Jumping Hall of Fame Jumper Classic Series West Conference – Junior Division
A combined class, the $5,000 Junior/Amateur-Owner Jumper Classic, was held at the Oaks Blenheim Spring Classic I, March 26-30 in San Juan Capistrano, CA. Junior rider Megan Edrick rode Just On Time to the win, giving her the early lead in the Series standings.

Show Jumping Hall of Fame Jumper Classic Series West Conference – Amateur-Owner Division

At the Oaks Blenheim Spring Classic I, the only Show Jumping Hall of Fame Series West Conference event held so far this season, Nicole LaMott and Laredo were the highest-finishing amateur-owner pair when they placed second in the $5,000 Junior/Amateur-Owner Jumper Classic.

The Show Jumping Hall of Fame and Museum at Busch Gardens in Tampa, FL was established in 1987 and formally opened in 1989. It was organized to promote the sport of show jumping and to immortalize the legends of the men, women and horses who have made great contributions to the sport. The Show Jumping Hall of Fame also conducts the Show Jumping Hall of Fame Jumper Classic Series, held under Grand Prix rules and specifications. The Series, which is sponsored in part by a grant from the National Horse Sports Foundation, holds classes at 51 horse shows across the country. It is designed to give amateur-owner and junior riders an opportunity to compete at higher levels and serves as a proving ground for many riders who aspire to someday represent the United States in international competition.
