horse Record Entries For Britain's Biggest Horse Show

With the nation’s best show jumpers, 28 jumping classes, 1,759 showing entries, international driving and the world’s finest backdrop, the magnificent Windsor Castle, Royal Windsor Horse Show is set to be another magical horse show (15th-19th May 2002). Over 3,000 entries have been received.

A total of 1,198 entries have been received for the showjumping, including those from 9 of the top 10 riders in the UK including the Whitakers, Tim Stockdale, Robert Smith and Geoff Glazzard who will be competing in a wide range of classes including the climax of the jumping classes, the Mappin & Webb Grand Prix on Sunday 19th May worth £15,000 in prize money alone.

The all weather surface has given the organisers the scope to run a wider variety of classes and one of the rare treats will be the chance to see the Six Bar competition outside.

A favourite class of HM The Queen, Her Majesty The Queen’s Challenge Cup for Services Team Jumping gives both Service and Cadet teams the chance to demonstrate their jumping skills. This year representation will include the RAF, the Royal Navy and Harrow, Eton and Wellington CCFs.

As well as enjoying top class show jumping, showing including the Horse & Hound British Isles Showing Championship, Land Rover International Carriage Driving Grand Prix and dressage, visitors to the show can look forward to indulging in some shopping in over 150 trade stands. The audience will be over-awed by the skills of the world famous American ‘Horse Whisperer’ Monty Roberts and spellbound by La Gardé Republicaine’s elegant tandem quadrille.

Advance tickets for the Royal Windsor Horse Show are available from the box office, telephone 0870 121 5370 and range from £6-£10 for adults and £3.50 to £7 for concessions, with on the day prices from £8-£12 for adults and £5-£8 for concessions.
