 HITS Moves Headquarters to
Saugerties, New York
SAUGERTIES, NY (May 1, 2001)--Horse Shows In the
Sun, Inc. (HITS), producer of six world class hunter/jumper horse show circuits
nationwide, has announced that the company's headquarters has moved from
Rhinebeck, New York, to Saugerties, New York. The move was complete as of
Monday, April 30, 2001. The Village Mayor, Robert Yerick, made a personal
welcome visit to the new offices on opening day and, with the Saugerties Board
of Trustees, sent a bouquet of flowers.
The new HITS headquarters is located in the Historic District of the Village of
Saugerties just a few miles from Woodstock where the 1994 rock concert was
held. This quaint area of the Hudson River valley is known as one of the
antique shop capitals of the northeast. The building is the former Saugerties
Post Office on Main Street that was originally designed by architect Louis A.
Simon and constructed in 1934. After purchasing the building in January 2001,
Tom Struzzieri, president and owner of HITS, hired the architectural firm
Pickett Designs, Inc. of Olivebridge, New York, to completely re-model the
interior of the building while maintaining the look of the period in which it
was initially built. The new design includes soaring ceilings, tiled floors,
wood wainscoting, and chandeliers and sconces throughout the main floor,
mezzanine conference room, and top floor office. J.H. Construction of
Rosendale, New York, was the renovation contractor.
HITS management moved the headquarters to accommodate the growth of the
company's staff and office space requirements. The move doubles the suare
footage the company had at the previous building across the Hudson River in
Rhinebeck. At the new location, HITS staff has access to high-speed Internet
use and is perfecting the updating process of results and news on the HITS
website.
HITS produced its first series of horse shows--a three-week circuit in
Gainesville, Florida--in 1982. Today, HITS produces six horse show circuits, a
total of 34 shows, in New York, California, Florida, Arizona, Virginia, and
Nevada. Individually, each is a first rate horse show series; collectively,
they represent the largest group of equestrian events under a single management
group in the United States.
