McDonald Places Second In Grand Prix Freestyle

Debbie McDonald of Hailey, ID, finished 2nd position with a score of 78.89% in the Grand Prix Freestyle held during the 2003 World Cup Dressage Finals in Göteberg, Sweden, Sunday, March 30.

McDonald, riding Mrs. Peggy C. Thomas’s Brentina (Hanoverian: Brentano II x Lieselotte), finished 2nd in Friday’s Grand Prix which was used to determine the starting positions for the Grand Prix Freestyle. U.S. Riders Guenter Seidel, riding Nikolaus 7 (Westphalian: Weinberg x Elise), finished the Freestyle in 4th with a score of 75.72% and George Williams, riding Rocher (Westphalian: Rolls Royce x Fraenzi), finished in 6th with a score of 75.56%.

Chef d’Equipe, Anne Gribbons said, "Debbie and Brentina had a beautiful ride today. We are absolutely thrilled and pleased at our result. The U.S. has great depth and experience for the future. The spirit in Goteborg has been wonderful and supportive.”

German rider Ulla Salzgeber finished 1st with a score of 82.19% to capture the top spot for the third year in a row riding the Latvian Warmblood gelding Rusty 47.
