horse Continued Spanish and American success for Irish Sport Horses

At Vejer De La Frontera CSI A in Spain over the weekend of March 1st, Coolcorron Cool Diamond (ISH) was ridden by Robert Splaine (IRL) to win Saturdays 1m40 class. Sundays “Small Grand Prix” saw Gandini Stardust VI (ISH) and Rodrigo Pessoa (BRA) take fifth place. On the previous Friday Diamond Carat (ISH) and Niall Talbot (IRE) took second place in the 1m30 class.

On the Sunshine Tour last weekend (March 4th-9th) Gandini Stardust VI (ISH) took third place in Saturdays 1m40 class, this time ridden by Khaled Al Eid (KSA). They were followed into fifth place by Hopes are High (ISH) and Matthew Broome (GBR). Sundays Vejer Grand Prix brought sixth place for Coolcorron Cool Diamond (ISH) and Robert Splaine (IRL). Meanwhile in Portugal, Lt. Shane Carey (IRE) and Ballycumber (ISH) were fastest in the Vilamoura CSI* Grand Prix on Sunday, March 2nd.

Irish Sport Horses were also on form over in the US with Zero (ISH) and Ryuma Hirota (JAP) coming second in the $50,000 Rio Vista Grand Prix at the Indio, California CSI A on Sunday, March 2nd. On the previous Thursday, in the Palm Beach $25,000 WEF Challenge Cup, Carlow Clover (ID) and Robin Sweely (USA) took fourth place. They followed this by taking tenth place in the $100,000 US Open Jumper Grand Prix CSIO on Sunday, March 10th, coming in behind Carling King (ISH) and Kevin Babington (IRL) in eighth place. Carling King (ISH) and Kevin Babington (IRL) were also on the Irish team which came second in Saturdays Palm Beach Samsung Nations Cup.

Back in Indio, Sundays $150,000 Ford Grand Prix FEI World Cup brought fifth place for Ado Annie (ISH) and her rider Will Simpson (USA).

Ballycumber ~ 1992 Irish Sport Horse gelding by Master Imp (TB), out of Peggy 8 (ISH), by Silent Whistle (TB), bred by John Brennan, Coon West, Co.Carlow.

Zero ~ 1995 Irish Sport Horse gelding by Zero Watt (TB), out of Brown Angel (ISH) bred by Kathleen Gallagher, 95 Ballykelly Road, Ballykelly, Limavady, Co. Derry.
