horse SPILLERS launch new ‘fibres for welfare’ initiative

SPILLERS have introduced a brand new range of fibre feeds, together with a comprehensive booklet on the benefits of feeding fibre. Both form part of a new initiative to highlight the importance of a high fibre based diet in supporting the best health and welfare of your horse or pony.

Unsurpassed as pioneers in equine nutrition SPILLERS are relied upon for using their technical and practical expertise to supply solutions to modern feeding challenges. The three new fibre blends build on the success of the UK’s fast growing fibre feed SPILLERS Happy Hoof, a complete feed designed for horses and ponies at risk from laminitis. Each new blend has been carefully designed to suit specific types of horses and ponies kept in a variety of different environments.

SPILLERS Happy Dieter is designed to address the specialist needs of weight-watching horses and ponies. SPILLERS Happy Stabletime has been specially formulated to aid the welfare of stabled horses by increasing eating time and helping to relieve ‘boredom’. SPILLERS Happy Chaff replaces Showing Chaff and is a high oil recipe with garlic, limestone and rock salt. Perfect for bulking out compounds, it also helps to give a healthy looking shiny coat.

“The way we feed and ride horses has changed immeasurably over the past fifty years,” explains SPILLERS Technical Director Ruth Bishop, “however, the horse’s digestive system has not changed in this time and is designed principally to process fibre. These feeds will help raise fibre levels in the diets of a wide range of horses, from competition animals stabled for long periods, to seriously overweight ponies who need to have their intake restricted without sacrificing a balanced diet.”

If you would like to discuss your horse’s diet with one of our qualified nutritionists telephone the SPILLERS Care Line on + 44 (0)1908 226626 or send an email to careline@spillers-feeds.com. For further information visit the SPILLERS website at www.spillers-feeds.com
