More excitement at Equus… horse

Equus 2001 is set to be huge success providing lots of chances for all horse lovers, owners and riders to buy products for the season ahead. The demonstrations have now been finalised with 3 new additions: Working Equitation, excerpts from the new performance of The Legend of Spain and the Chase me Charlie competition for the Equus Charity Shield.

Working Equitation is a discipline new to Britain and has been creating a lot of excitement amongst riders, keen to get involved. The competition includes a combination of flatwork movements plus testing the ability of horse and rider to deal with a number of obstacles.

The Chase me Charlie competition will be held at the end of each day, five competitors including the Whitaker family will be competing against each other each day culminating with the winner receiving the Equus Charity Shield on the final Sunday – a competition which we expect to be fiercely contested in future years. Monies raised from this competition will be given to the winner’s choice of charity.

Equus is clearly making its mark in the equine industry and is being considered as the venue for next year’s FEI World Cup Dressage Competition after narrowly missing out this year to Denmark.

Despite common preconceptions ExCeL in the Royal Docks is very easy to get to, just 20 minutes via Dual Carriageway from the M25 and easily accessible via the Jubilee Line and DLR from central London.

Tickets Sales have got off to a terrific start for Equus – The Horse Event. There has been lots of excitement for this new event and interest has not just been from equine followers in the South East but from all over the UK including parts of Scotland.

Tickets are being sold via Wembley Box Office (0870 739 6500) and online from the Equus website (www.equusevent.co.uk). In addition tickets are being sold at leading retailers in London and the South East including Lillywhites, Swaine Adeney, Horse & Country, Speedgate and Frogpool Manor Saddlery and through The Riding Clubs and branches of The Pony Club.

Equus will be held 19-22 April 2001. Advanced tickets cost £8 adults, £4 child and £20 family tickets. Tickets can be booked on hotline 0870 739 6500 or at www.equusevent.co.uk
