DIRECTORS OF EFI AGREE TO NEW NATIONAL GOVERNING BODY

At a meeting on November 22, 2001, at the Ambassador Hotel, Kill, Co.
Kildare, the Directors of the Equestrian Federation of Ireland considered
the recommendations of the Taskforce.

The EFI has agreed
1) To establish a new National Governing Body for the horse sport sector,
with a view to bringing all sporting and breeding sectors under a single
unified structure
2) To continue discussions with the Irish Horse Board and Government
agencies with a view to finalising arrangements for the new organisation,
which will combine resources, structures, staff, and finances
3) That the new organisation will implement a common strategy to develop the
sector, and seek to significantly increase revenue, in consultation with the
relevant Government agencies
4) That the new organisation should be governed by a General Council which
will delegate powers of implementation to a Board of Directors under an
independent Chairperson.

-Avril Doyle,
President, Equestrian Federation of Ireland.

After the meeting, Ms. Doyle acknowledged the work of the Taskforce, under
the chairmanship of Mr. Liam Connellan, and thanked them for their huge
contribution to the development of the industry.
