USA Equestrian Announces Leading Sire Rankings

The USA Equestrian Leading Sire Rankings are now live on USA Equestrian’s web site at www.equestrian.org. The ranking lists, which determine the winners of the year end USAE Leading Sire Awards, are now updated on a daily basis and feature a 'click-to' list of all the offspring that contribute to the ranking.

"This is a tremendous step forward for our US breeding industry," said USAE Breeders Committee chair, Denny Emerson. "The Leading Sire awards have become an important part of the USAE awards system over the past three years, but this dynamic ranking system brings new excitement to the breeding sector. This is just the beginning. There are more innovations around the corner."

USAE Director of Sport Data, Cheryll Frank cautions, "This is a work in progress and we know there will be corrections and additions necessary as we go forward. The rankings will change from minute-to-minute as new results are posted, and as we enter sire, dam and breeder codes for newly recorded horses, or update existing records. We welcome input from the industry as we develop new products to serve breeders."

The Leading Sire awards will be presented at the Silver Stirrup Awards Banquet, held during the USA Equestrian Annual Meeting, January 14 – 18, 2004, in Los Angeles, CA. The Leading Sire lists can be accessed via this link: http://www.equestrian.org/points2003. For more information about the USA Equestrian Leading Sire rankings or about recording stallions and mares in the USAE database, contact Cheryll Frank, cmfrank@equestrian.org or call 859-225-6980.
