APHA members of all ages benefit from Markel's strong support

FORT WORTH, Texas-The American Paint Horse Association (APHA) and its youth members will continue to benefit from the generous support of Markel Insurance Company, which recently announced its renewed partnership with the Association.
Markel, which specializes in equine insurance, is a strong supporter of the American Junior Paint Horse Association (AjPHA) Youth Presidential Service project each year. The company offers a cash incentive to the youth club selected for making a difference in its community.
Markel's support in this area rewards and inspires youngsters to use their talents to help others. Last year, the project involved youngsters assisting at therapeutic riding centers around the nation.
As part of its sponsorship, the company will also continue to offer special rates during APHA's Showcase Sales, held during the association's World Championship Paint Horse shows.
"Our partnership with APHA has been a huge success," said Don Faison, vice president and director of horse programs for Markel. "The loyalty of APHA's members has expanded our horse insurance program and allowed us to serve more of the association's members."
For more than four decades, Markel has provided uninterrupted coverage for horses and horse-related risks. Markel also pioneered many of the policy forms and endorsements now considered standard in the industry. As a leading developer of specialty risk management tools and services, Markel has continually enhanced and improved its products to meet the changing needs of its customers.
Several of Markel's employees were horse owners long before they became involved in the insurance industry. Markel considers these employees true "horse people," who represent the commitment that makes the Markel difference.
"Markel's continued support of the Paint Horse industry, especially the youth involved with the breed, shows their concern for the welfare of our members young and old," said Jim Kelley, executive secretary of APHA.
