USA Equestrian Releases Documents Updating USOC Mediation

In response to numerous inquiries, the Executive Committee of USA Equestrian, meeting Tuesday by teleconference, released several documents for publication on its website, relating to the United States Equestrian Team's withdrawal from mediation over the future governance of the sport. USA Equestrian is the National Equestrian Federation for the United States, and the incumbent National Governing Body for the sport, as recognized by the United States Olympic Committee. USET commenced litigation against USA Equestrian in February 2001, formally challenging its status as NGB.

The documents released include:

Letter from Alan F. Balch to Eric L. Straus summarizing Executive Committee discussion on April 30, May 2, 2002

Response By Alan F. Balch to the April 9th Letter From Frank V. Lloyd and the April 10th Letter From Armand Leone, Jr., April 17, 2002

Letter From Armand Leone, Jr. to Richard Young, Esq., April 10, 2002

Response By Alan F. Balch to the April 3rd Letter From Frank V. Lloyd and Armand Leone, Jr. to Jeff Benz of the USOC, April 5, 2002

Letter From Frank V. Lloyd and Armand Leone, Jr. to Jeff Benz of the USOC Ending USET Negotiations With USA Equestrian, April 3, 2002

According to Lori Rawls, Executive Director of USA Equestrian, the decision to release the documents was made because several excerpts of letters have appeared in some equestrian publications, edited and out of context.

The documents may be viewed at www.equestrian.org/EquestrianGovernance, and copies are available to USA Equestrian members upon written request to Ms.
Rawls.
