USA Equestrian Releases Copy Of New Jersey Court Order Nullifying USET's NGB Challenge

Court Order is Contrary to USET Press Release

Today USA Equestrian released to the public and posted on its website www.equestrian.org a copy of the Court Order issued on January 10, 2003, by Honorable Edmund R. Bernhard, Judge of the New Jersey Superior Court, relating to the USET's Challenge filed with the USOC attacking USA Equestrian's NGB status. The court declared "null and void" all substantive actions taken by the USET's Board of Trustees at recent Trustee meetings, and also specified that the Trustees' attempt to ratify "the filing and continued prosecution of the challenge before the United States Olympic Committee" was "null and void."

Yesterday the USET issued a press release stating that the withdrawal of its challenge on January 14, 2003 was "in no way connected to the recent decision of the Superior Court of New Jersey" and stating, "Nowhere in the judge's decision did the court find that the USET lacked proper authorization or proper documentation to continue with the Challenge."

USA Equestrian's General Counsel, Bill Roos, commented that "Judge Bernhard's order speaks for itself, and the USET's press release is clearly wrong or at best misleading." Mr. Roos distributed the court order and the USET press release to USA Equestrian's 64 member Board of Directors at their annual meetings which began yesterday in Lexington, KY.
