Riders Seek Berths in North American League Year-End Finals

Annville, PA—January 21, 2002—The chase to qualify for the 2002 North American League (NAL) Finals at the Pennsylvania National Horse Show in Harrisburg, PA, in October is well underway. The NAL offers year-long series in six divisions – Children’s Hunter, Adult Hunter, Children’s Jumper, Adult Jumper, Pony Jumper and Open Jumper. The Series includes classes held at hundreds of horse shows across the United States and Canada. All classes held at shows starting on or after September 1, 2001 through shows starting on or before August 31, 2002 count toward the 2002 finals.

In January, the Westbrook Polar Bear Horse Show, in Westbrook, CT held two NAL classes. Nandy Beauchamp of Larchmont, NY rode to a first place finish in the NAL Adult Hunter Classic aboard her Illustrious to earn 150 points towards the final standings.

Tracey Mack of Noank, CT took first place in the NAL Children’s Hunter Classic aboard her New Found Glory. With this win, Mack earned 300 points towards the goal of a slot at the NAL finals in Harrisburg.

Riders need not be members of the NAL to compete in any qualifying classes, but only current members earn points toward year-end finals. The annual fee is $20 per rider. Membership must be received at the League Office, within 10 days of the completion of an event for points from that event to count.

Riders may join at a horse show with the show secretary for points from that show to count, however exhibitors are encouraged to mail the application themselves. For more information and a list of qualifying competitions, please see the Ryegate Show Services website at www.Ryegate.com.
