horse Executive Committee Announced for 2001 Brookhill Steeplechase

And they’re OFF! The Raleigh Jaycees’ Board of Directors has announced the Executive Committee for the 2001 Brookhill Steeplechase, the Triangle’s premier horse racing event, to take place on May 5, 2001 in Clayton, NC.

Co-Chairpersons of the event will be Glenn Seitchek and Karey Martin. Seitchek is responsible for sales, marketing and hospitality, with Mike Brown, Dupre Jones and Danielle Marquis serving as vice-chairs, respectively. Martin’s responsibilities include administration, finance, site, and support services with Louis Klinger, Katherine Gu, and Dean Nunnally as vice-chairs, respectively.

In its ninth year, the Raleigh Jaycees are excited about this year’s event. Karey Martin states that “We're off to a good start, but have lots of planning ahead of us. We have filled all Vice Chair positions, and are enthusiastic about the work ahead and the big day in May. The focus at the moment is sponsorship selection. We are extremely proud of our past achievements and look forward to presenting the Ninth Annual Brookhill Steeplechase.” At present, sponsors include Time Warner Cable, Killer Creative Group, and 96 Rock.

The Brookhill Steeplechase is a horse race, sanctioned by the National Steeplechase Association, owned and operated by the Raleigh Junior Chamber of Commerce, the Raleigh Jaycees. Founded in 1993, the Brookhill Steeplechase offers enthusiasts from across the Research Triangle region a chance to witness professional jockeys compete for purses exceeding $40,000. Proceeds from this unique event help fund many of the more than 120 projects run by the Raleigh Jaycees each year, including Goodfellows, the Turkey Shoot at the NC State Fair, numerous child literacy and mentorship programs, professional and personal training programs and cooperative efforts with the Jaycee Burn Center and the Boys’ Home of North Carolina.

The Raleigh Jaycees, chartered in 1932, is a 450+ member civic-minded group of men and women ranging in ages from twenty-one to thirty-nine. The Raleigh Jaycees are an affiliate organization of the N.C. Junior Chamber of Commerce, the U.S. Junior Chamber of Commerce, and Junior Chamber International. The Jaycee movement began in 1921 as a commitment to leadership development for young adults, and is known worldwide as a training ground for community leaders.
