Easter Bunny And Polo Continue Familiar Tradition At Stanford Financial Group - U.S. Open Polo Championship At International Polo Club Palm Beach

Exciting polo and Easter are a South Florida tradition almost as familiar as champagne and caviar. The Easter Bunny made his first appearance at the most prestigious polo tournament in the United States, the Stanford Financial Group – 100th U.S. Open at International Polo Club Palm Beach, which continues to draw large crowds.

The most recent Sunday afternoon game, sponsored by Cunard, highlighted arch-rivals Bendabout against Catamount and was played before 3,163 spectators, the largest crowd of the inaugural season. Catamount, led by Carlos Gracida’s seven goals, recorded an emotional 10-4 victory to advance to the semifinals.

Cunard Vice President of Sales and Marketing Deborah Natansohn handled the pre-game coin toss ceremony. Twelve-year-old Alexis Seiler of Jupiter superbly performed the national anthem while a Latin rhythm band provided pre-game and halftime musical entertainment.

More than 100 children participated in an Easter Egg Hunt before the match and a Bonnet Committee happily went through the crowd to determine winners in the Easter Hat contest. In the Junior Division, the winners were: Savannah James (Most Charming), Matthew Coppola (Most Polo-riffic), Olivia Peacock (Most Classic) and Isabella Deupi (Most Original). In the Adult Division, the winners were: Pamela Garrison (Most Classic), Paula Baker (Most Dramatic), Erica Gonzalez (Most Whimsical), Leighanne Fischer (Most Totally Outrageous) and Erin O’Brien Bennett (Most Humorous).

The inaugural high-goal polo season concludes Sunday at 3 p.m. with championship match of the Stanford Financial Group – U.S. Open. The polo game and a delicious Sunday brunch catered by The Breakers are open to the public. Tickets can be purchased in advance by calling (561) 204-5687 or visiting the club’s website at www.internationalpoloclub.com. Tickets for the polo match are also available at the gate on the day of the game.
