USEF Approves Modifications to USET Show Jumping Computer List

Gladstone, NJ—December 22, 2003—U. S. Equestrian (USEF) has approved modifications to the selection procedure for CSIO/CSI competition that is based on the weekly USET Show Jumping Computer List.

A summary of significant changes follows:

One horse per rider will be included in determining a class’s value. In the case of a class in which riders are permitted to ride more than one horse, the rider’s highest ranking horse from the most recent horse/rider list will be the one to add value to the class.

For all classes held outside the United States which will be included on the USET Computer Ranking System, class values will be determined using the same system as that used for classes taking place in the United States.

Points will still age each week until they are 39 weeks old when they “age out,” but will be slowed according to the following system:
Weeks 1-4 Points remain at 100%

Weeks 5-8 10% (90%)

Weeks 9-12 10% (80%)

Weeks 13-16 15% (65%)

Weeks 17-20 15% (50%)

Weeks 21-24 20% (30%)

Weeks 25-38 20% (10%)

The minimum value for World Cup Qualifiers will be lowered from 6 to 4.

Foreign classes in which U.S. riders participate will be included using the USET system to determine class values.

A waiver will no longer be required for FEI recognized competitions outside the United States limited to Juniors, Young Riders, and/or Amateurs, as long as they have points on the USET Computer List.

The USET Show Jumping Computer Ranking List is used to select teams and or/individuals to represent the U.S. at CSIO and CSI competitions where more riders indicate a desire to compete than the organizer can accommodate and for which there are no separate selection procedures, as is the case with World Championships, Olympics, Pan American Games and select other events.

The complete show jumping selection procedure is posted on the USEF website at www.usef.org. For more information, please contact Sally Ike, USEF Director of Show Jumping Activities, at (908) 234-0848 extension 11 or sally.ike@usef.org.
