horse Stallion AI Services unaffected by Genus Equine

It’s business as usual for Stallion AI Services, despite the recent withdrawal by Genus Equine from the equine AI market.

A DEFRA-approved establishment, the Shropshire based Stallion AI Services has been at the forefront of the equine AI industry for the past 14 years and freezing semen with Genus for the past seven years. Over 350 stallions, incorporating 37 different breeds, have been through the centre during this time, representing over 7000 semen collections. The business is also continuing its work with the Rare Breeds Survival Trust (RBST) to establish a sperm bank to ensure the future survival of Britain’s most threatened native breeds of horse and pony.

Stallion AI Services uses the very latest equipment and technology and can freeze semen for both UK and worldwide markets.

Tullis Matson, Director of Stallion AI Services said: “AI is of far-reaching benefit to the equine industry. It not only presents a wider choice of breeding options and much greater flexibility with breeding programmes but also has higher rates of success and can provide a means of disease control. Of course we are extremely disappointed that Genus have decided to pull out of the equine AI market, but for us it’s very much business as usual.”

Quality Assurance will continue to be carried out by Genus at their Ruthin laboratories.

Fresh, chilled and frozen semen is available through Stallion AI Services.
