horse National Spanish Horse Association goes online

The national governing body for Spanish and Baroque horse breeds - including the purebred Spanish horse, the Lippizaner, the Friesian, and the Lusitano - is online. The
National Spanish Horse Association (NSHA), at www.spanishhorses.co.nz, is New Zealand's one-stop shop for information about Spanish and Baroque horses.
"We're a relatively new organisation, but decided the time was right to go online," says president Bev Falconer, of Te Awamutu.

"There is much confusion about spanish breeds in general and with our site we're able to better inform the public about Spanish and Baroque breeds and their origins," she says. "It's also giving breeders and stud owners an avenue to promote their horses."

As well as in-depth articles on the Spanish and Baroque breeds, NSHA breeders can have their own pages or site featured in the Studs and Stallions section.
There's also a Horses For Sale area, and a forms and resources area, where visitors can download forms for registration, change of ownership, membership, and stud returns. The new NSHA site was designed by equine web design specialists Horsetalk, and is also hosted under Horsetalk.

The NSHA was founded in late 1999 in response to demand for a more comprehensive breed representation of the Spanish and Baroque Horse Breeds including the Purebred Spanish Horse, or PRE (from Spain) the Lippizaner (Austria), the Friesian (The Netherlands) and the Lusitano (Portugal).

The association maintains separate studbooks for purebred Spanish horses and Spanish partbred horses of 50% Spanish blood and more. The NSHA also has a registry for Partbred horses under 50% Spanish blood (designated gradehorses) and Lippizzaners.
