horse Equine Students Bid To Win Prestigous Award

Now in its fourth year, the Royal Agricultural Society of England initiated award, The Eqvalan Thesis of the Year Award is designed to reward academic excellence within colleges offering equine degree courses. Fifteen top institutions put forward their best equine student to be considered.

The award's five finalists will give a fifteen-minute presentation to a panel of eminent equine industry judges at the British Equine Event and undergo an in-depth question and answer session. This year's Eqvalan thesis winner will be presented with their prize at a private ceremony during the weekend.

This year's finalists are:

Claire Brookes, a recent BA (Hons) equine studies graduate from Warwickshire College's Moreton Morrell
Amy Greenwood, a recent graduate from Writtle College, Chelmsford
Emma Hedderson, a recent graduate from Imperial College at Wye, Ashford, Kent
Jack Murphy, a student of the University of Limerick
Lynne Uttley a student
Hartpury College in Gloucestershire

The Eqvalan final will be take place independently from the main events at this year's twelfth British Equine Event, which itself features a packed two-day demonstration programme. Top equestrians such as Conrad Schumacher, Vere & Clea Phillipps and Andy Austin will be giving informative lecture-demos on how to get the best out of your horse. Top vets and farriers including the BBC TV's Vet's in Practice star Sally Kingsley will also be on hand to give advice and tips on equine health and nutrition, and with over 300 specialist trade stands, horse-mad Christmas shoppers can get totally carried away!

David Storrar, RASE's Director of Exhibitions comments "Delivering what our visitors want to see at the show has been the key to its ongoing success. The British Equine Event is now an unrivalled event and a must for all those interested in the world of horses."

The British Equine Event is open from 9am - 5pm on November 2nd and 3rd of November and tickets are £8.50 for adults and £7.50 for under 16s. Children under five enter free.
