Charity: This year’s National Horse Show benefits the New York City Parks Enforcement Patrol and Auxiliary Mounted Unit.

Selected Judges: The National Horse Show has enlisted some of the nation’s leading hunter judges to judge the $100,000 National Horse Show Hunter Championship. The list includes Ralph Caristo of Hauppauge, NY; Philip J. DeVita of Apopka, FL; Susan S. Humes of Peconic, NY; Mrs. Ernest M. Oare of Warrenton, VA and James Zulia of Altoona, FL.

Maclay Championships for the ASPCA Horsemanship classes: The Maclay National Championships for the ASPCA Horsemanship Classes, which is open to riders under the age of 18, is a showcase of future show jumping champions. Each year more than 1,000 riders participate in local and regional events to earn the right to compete in the National Horse Show’s Finals. Fifty of the country’s top riders demonstrate their talents to a panel of three judges for the most prestigious title for young hunt seat riders. Past winners of the Maclay trophy include such top riders as Olympic veterans William Steinkraus, George Morris, Frank and Mary Chapot, and Leslie Burr.

Show History: Founded in 1883 at the original Madison Square Garden, the National Horse Show is America’s oldest indoor horse show, and a traditional fixture on the national and international sports and social event calendars. The National is America’s prestigious year-end championship show, offering the country's top horses and riders a chance to decide the ultimate champions. The National's primary activity is the annual production of the National Horse Show at Madison Square Garden, and all its ancillary events. These events include various fundraisers throughout the United States, fundraising and social events in New York and the surrounding metropolitan area during the show, and all other activities directly related to the annual show such as the National Horse Show Educational Program and the Local Day shows. Over its century plus of history, the National Horse Show has supported many worthwhile causes, including Ronald McDonald House, the American Red Cross, the Equestrian AIDS Foundation and the United States Equestrian Team. The National Horse Show Association of America Limited is a tax-exempt nonprofit charitable organization, operating in accordance with Section 501(c)(3) of the United States Internal Revenue Code. Contributions to the Association are tax-deductible to the extent permitted by law.
