Marshall & Sterling League Finals Presented by Corona Lexol Award Four Hunter/Jumper Titles and $30,000 in Prize Money

UPPER MARLBORO, MD (October 8, 2001)-Marshall & Sterling Children's and Adult
League Finals presented by Corona Lexol for Regions I, II, and III were held
October 2-4 at the Capital Challenge Horse Show in Upper Marlboro, Maryland.
Finalists competed in the Show Place Arena at the Prince George's Equestrian
Center. A total of $30,000 was awarded in two jumper and two hunter finals.
Awards were presented by Chris Roger, Marshall & Sterling League
Representative; Mary Moeller Marshall & Sterling; Virginia Cardenas, Great
American Insurance; and Dan Brooks, Corona Lexol.

Kristin Fleming of East Haddam, Connecticut, riding Newcastle owned by Mrs.
Stephen Seder, won the $10,000 Marshall & Sterling Children's Jumper Final on
Tuesday, October 2. Fleming bested a field of 30 riders and was the fastest
of seven double-clear rounds in a 15-horse Jump-Off. She was awarded an
embroidered cooler and $2,000 in prize money.

Zara Davies of Annville, Pennsylvania, aboard Waiting for Godot won the
Marshall & Sterling $10,000 Adult Jumper Final on October 2. Davies
out-jumped a field of 23 and was the fastest of five double-clear rounds in
an 11-horse Jump-Off. Davies also took second place with Madinia. As
owner/rider of both horses, Davies was awarded an embroidered cooler and a
$2,000 paycheck for first place plus a $1,600 check for second place.

Mandy Tosh of Cumming, Georgia, on Whoville owned by Mr. and Mrs. Hunt Tosh
won the $5,000 Marshall & Sterling Adult Hunter Final on Wednesday, October
3, outperforming a field of 32 entries. Riders jumped a course of 10 fences
and were scored using the open numerical system. The top 12 scores were
invited back to jump a second round over a different course. The highest
average score of the two rounds determined the winner. Horse and rider
combinations were judged on performance, soundness, suitability and manners.
Tosh was awarded $1,000 and an embroidered cooler.

Ana Ousouljoglou of Bridgewater, New Jersey, rode The Rainman to victory in
the $5,000 Marshall & Sterling Children's Hunter Final on Thursday, October
4, beating a field of 29. Ousouljoglou earned the highest average score of
two rounds over fences judged under the numerical system and by the same
criterion as the Adult Hunter Final. As owner/rider, she received a check for
$1,000 and an embroidered cooler.

The Marshall and Sterling Finals for Region IV will be held at the Indio
Desert Circuit in Indio, California, February 6-10.

The Finals allow top riders in the Marshall & Sterling League to compete for
national titles. To be eligible for the Finals, riders and their mounts must
be members of the Marshall & Sterling League and they must compete in
qualifying classes offered at Marshall & Sterling League member shows during
the competition season. Horse and rider combinations qualify for the Finals
based on points accumulated. The top 30 Horse/Rider Members in each division
are eligible to compete.

The Marshall & Sterling League was developed by Horse Shows In The Sun, Inc.
(HITS) in 1991 to boost the competition level of children and adult amateur
hunter and jumper riders. More than 300 USA Equestrian (formerly AHSA)
A-rated shows offer Marshall & Sterling classes nationwide and over 2,000
member riders compete to qualify for the Finals.
