The Natural Approach

For the past three years, Hilda Ross Rodger has run The Natural Approach from her base near Bankfoot in Perthshire. During that time, she has built up an independent equestrian consultancy to support the horse or rider in crisis, as well as stocking an interesting range of high quality products for people, horses and pets, based on the 'natural' theme.

Now, Hilda and her husband, George Stephenson (an agricultural contractor) are in the process of buying a small farm in an idyllic location near Blairgowrie in Perthshire. Located in an environmentally sensitive area, the farm has been delightfully restored and upgraded in part by its previous owners, who renovated the house, established a delightful garden, planted trees, restored dry stone walls and just generally farmed in a way that was both economically viable AND good for the environment! So, Hilda and George feel very privileged and grateful to be 'inheriting' this project.

There is much work to do as the buildings require complete renovation, and it will be a case of 'making haste slowly', since this couple run their own businesses full-time and are having to work exceedingly hard in the present difficult economic climate for rural enterprises. But, with stupendous views, lots of trees, a stream running through the property and an abundance of wildlife on the 79 acres, there is lots of potential!

Hilda hopes to take on increased coaching commitments and develop courses, clinics, short breaks and longer holidays for adult horse owners (and their non-horsey partners too if required!) These promise to be a 'bit different from the ordinary'.

With a sound background in teaching and lecturing and lots of practical experience in working with horses to international level, not to mention training in complementary medicine, Hilda is well qualified to take the Natural Approach from strength to strength.

Watch this space - and the equestrian press - for further developments!
