Arute Wins Green Hunter Pony Championship

Alexandria Arute, 12, of Avon CT, rode Olympic Dreams, LLC. owned small pony DreamBoy to win the 2003 Wild Horsefeathers/USAE National Green Hunter Pony Championship held August 5. The championship was held as part of the State Line Tack/USAE Pony Finals being held August 5 – 8, at The Andrews School in Willoughby, OH. As champion, Arute received a gift certificate for a custom pair of Der Dau boots, the Brownland Perpetual Trophy, donated by Mr. and Mrs. Mack Anderton, and a Triple Crown Custom cooler. Arute trains at Heritage Farms.

Exhibitors went head-to-head in competition in an over fences class, a model class and an under saddle class, competing against riders from across the nation to vie for top honors. Competitors qualified to compete in this event by winning a Champion or Reserve Champion at an “A” or “AA” rated USA Equestrian competition between December 1, 2002 and July 1, 2003. This competition was made possible through the generous sponsorship of Wild Horsefeathers. Kaitlin Campbell, 11, from Cranbury, NJ, rode her own medium pony, Crack of Dawn, to take the Reserve Champion spot. Kaitlin trains with Patty Miller.

The judges for the Green Hunter Ponies were, John Roper of Franklin, TN, John Barker of Middleburg, VA, and Leo Conroy of Wellington, FL.

The State Line Tack/USAE Pony Finals runs through Friday and will include the Pony Medal, Small, Medium and Large Pony classes as well as the Team and Individual HorseCity.com Jumper Championships.
