Eventing - European Hopeful Injured

Kildare-based Eventing rider Jane O'Flynn was seriously injured during a One-Day Event at Richhill, Co. Armagh yesterday (Saturday) and was airlifted to the Royal Victoria Hospital in Belfast immediately afterwards.

Jane, who is one of Ireland's European championship hopefuls, sustained the injuries in a fall from a horse during the competition.

Her condition is said to be <critical, but stable>, and doctors report that Jane's overall physical fitness has helped her respond well to treatment.

Equestrian Federation of Ireland President Avril Doyle said today (Sunday): <<On behalf of the EFI and on behalf of everyone involved in equestrian sport, I would like to say that our thoughts and prayers are with Jane and her family, and we hope she will achieve a speedy recovery.>>
