horse The Bowmore Blair Castle International Horse Trials and Country Fair

Blair Atholl, Perthshire
Thursday 23rd - Sunday 26th August 2001

BOOST FOR SHOWJUMPING AT BLAIR

The popular showjumping classes at the Bowmore Blair Castle International Horse Trials and Country Fair received a cash boost recently.

Irish company, Nutri-science is putting up £1000 for sponsorship of the Blair Castle Open Championship on Sunday, 26th August.

The £900 cash plus £100 worth of products represents the biggest prize money awarded for a class at Blair Castle and, along with major sponsorship from local hotels and businesses, puts the three days of BSJA among the most lucrative in the Scottish showjumping circuit.

Sandra Low-Mitchell from Balcormo in Fife runs the competition in the magnificent setting of the white-walled castle and is expecting record entries of around 1500 again this year. In 2000 an extra ring had to be build to accommodate the massive entry.

Sandra, herself a top class showjumper, with a string of horses, swears by the joint supplement, Arthri-aid supplied by Nutri-science. She said, "I have found the equine supplement excellent, not only for older horses, but also for youngsters which are growing fast and for horses which are jumping on hard ground."

Another first for Blair is the final qualifier for The King of the Ring Competition which has been running throughout the year. This will be held on Saturday 25th August, with the finals at Gleneagles on 13th October.

Regulars to the showjumping arenas at Blair Castle will be delighted that popular Irish course builder, Brian Henry is returning to design and build his unique jumping courses from Friday 24th to Sunday 26th August.
