Cornish
Woman Convicted for Horse Cruelty
Today,
Thursday 1 July, at Bodmin Magistrates Court, Caroline
Courtney Wiles of St Clether, Cornwall was found guilty
of causing unnecessary suffering to Homer, a horse
in her possession.
Courtney
Wiles, of Lower Trevithiac Farm, St Clether, was sentenced
to a 15 year ban on keeping horses, fined £250
and ordered to pay £1,916 towards the ILPH and
the RSPCA costs.
|
Comments
ILPH (International League for the Protection of Horses)
Field Officer, Jeff Herrington, "We are delighted with
the 15 year ban, this surely sends out a strong and clear
deterrent message to people neglecting their horses and
ponies, that the Courts treat such cases extremely seriously.
Other than Courtney Wiles' 15 year ban the only good thing
to come out of the case is that Homer will have a safe and
secure future for the rest of his life in ILPH ownership."

send their best reiners - Ranking Update

That day is the nomination deadline for the first $

Sue
Carson Saddles offer a Clea Advantage.
Top
Event Rider Clea Phillips and bespoke saddle manufacturer
sue carson saddles have teamed up to create a winning
combination.
Clea
and her husband Vere Phillips have been working with
sue carson saddles on the design of the close contact
jumping saddle and the result is the Scope jumping
saddle which is ideal for cross country and show jumping.
Lighter in weight than a normal saddle, it is designed
with a single panel to allow the rider to get a closer
feel. The unique design options ensure that whatever
the size and shape of the horse, the saddle will allow
total freedom of movement for the horse, particularly
through the shoulder and back whilst also providing
maximum security, comfort and balance for the rider.

Gorky
Takes a Walk in the Park at Woodside to Win $5000 Circuit
Opener Jumper Classic
Woodside,
California. Sharn Wordley rode Gorky to a walk in the park
the Horse Park at Woodside to win the $5,000
Woodside Circuit Opener Classic. Only three horses managed
a clear round over Chris Collmans course, and Gorky
was the fastest of the three with a winning time of 34.554.
Wordley was especially pleased with the black Selle Francais
performance given that this was the horses first time
back in the show ring after colic surgery. I bought
this horse in January and out of nine classes, this horse
has won a prize in each of them. He is pretty hard to beat
in a jump off. He is unbelievably fast, smart and careful.
Wordley and Gorky won a grand prix at Rancho Mirage, CA
in January and they earned ribbons in all the grand prix
classes they entered at Tucson, AZ.

The
British Horse Society Cymru visits Bobby Roberts'
Circus
With
a circus in town it was a great opportunity for BHS
Welsh Development Officer, Wendy Davies, to visit
the performing horses, and help out with some equine
passport applications at the same time!
|
Owner of the circus, Bobby Roberts Junior, requested help
with obtaining passports for his 21 equines - horses, ponies,
a mule and a donkey - and Wendy was only too happy to help.
"The animals really were in a fantastic condition,"
said Wendy. "It was obvious they receive excellent
care and attention. Bobby asked for some help with the passport
forms, and the BHS was only too happy to help". Please

Samsung
Super League News: Tight At The Top At The Halfway
Stage.....
Less
than three points separate France, at the top of the
table, from The Netherlands in second spot after four
of the eight legs of the Samsung Super League which
has more than lived up to expectations in its second
season.<ep>
The
French looked really confident at the last round in
Rotterdam where the home side had a terrible day,
failing to find anything like the form they displayed
when winning the previous two legs in Rome and Lucerne,
but one bad result will not decide the series and
the Dutch are so far ahead of the teams at the bottom
of the order that only their pride should have been
damaged by the experience.<ep>
